Stealthy Soaring

Stealthy SoaringIn order to adapt to their predator roles, Owls have developed a method of flying that minimizes the sounds made between their feathers. The flaps are muted with the leading edges of their primary feathers covered with a tough fringe. This reduces turbulence, which in turn reduce the noise while flying. Their downy feathers encase the wings outer edge; so as to wrap the noisy  feathers underneath.
